There may be times when something is troubling you, but you are unable to think or work things through on your own. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy provides the chance to speak openly and confidentially about whatever is on your mind to someone who is trained to listen in a way that can help you to recognise the sources of present difficulties, and discover patterns which may be rooted in the past. This process offers the possibility of long-lasting change. Recent research* has demonstrated that as well as bringing about such change, the benefits of this process continue to develop after the treatment has ended.
The SLPG (South London Psychotherapy Group) provides psychoanalytic psychotherapy for individuals seeking help with emotional difficulties.
